MINUTES FROM THE 4th ANNUAL MEMBERS’ MEETING FEBRUARY 18, 2016

  1. The 4th annual Korean War Memorial (KWMF) Members’ Meeting took place at 10:00 am, February 18, 2016 at the Golden Gate Grill, 449 Powell Street, San Francisco CA.
  2. President Quentin Kopp called the meeting to order.
  3. Secretary John Stevens verified that there was a quorum.
  4. KWMF officers, staff members, and members were introduced.
  5. Executive Director Gerard Parker reported on the overall status of the project. His report is attached.
  6. Secretary John Stevens reported that $3,415,742 had been received, with an additional $160,000 pledged ands pending.
  7. Treasurer Don Reid reported that there was $852,341.70 in the KWMF bank accounts.
  8. The following resolutions were unanimously approved:
    • RESOLUTION APPROVING THE ACTIONS TAKEN BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS TOGETHER WITH THE PRESIDIO TRUST DURING 2015
    • RESOLVED: That the members of the Korean War Memorial Foundation recognize and approve the following actions taken by the Board of Directors together with The Presidio Trust during calendar year 2015:
    • February 19: The Presidio Trust gave final approval of the Korean War Memorial design and location.
    • April 27: The Presidio Trust and the Korean War Memorial Foundation entered into a Cooperative Agreement.
    • May 26: The Korean War Memorial Foundation made an initial payment to the Presidio Trust of $358,000 for design work.
    • July 11: A historic Groundbreaking Ceremony was held for the Korean War Memorial on the Memorial site in the Presidio of San Francisco.
    • July 11: The Korean War Veterans Appreciation Luncheon, sponsored by KWMF Vice President Man J Kim, was held at the Golden Gate Grill, San Francisco.
    • September 17: The Annual Korean War Veterans Luncheon, sponsored by KWMF and the Marines’ Memorial Club, was held at the Marines’ Memorial Club and Hotel, San Francisco.
    • November 10: The Korean War Memorial Foundation made a payment of $1,602,660 to the Presidio Trust for the construction work.
    • December: Construction of the Korea War Memorial began.
    • RESOLUTION ELECTING BOARD MEMBERS
    • RESOLVED: That the members of the Korean War Memorial Foundation elect the following Board Members for a two-year term:
    • Kong Jung Shik
    • Daniel C. Helix
    • Thomas F. Brown
    • J. Michael Myatt
    • Arthur W. Curtis
    • Frank Mendez
    • RESOLUTION CONCERNING AN EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM
    • RESOLVED: That the Korean War Memorial Foundation conduct an educational program about the Korean War. The program will target Bay area middle schools, high schools and colleges.
