Seoul, July, 2014: John Y. Lee (Lee, Jong-yun), KWMF’s Special Advisor in Seoul, recently met with Pak, Myung-ho, President of the White Horse Mountain Battle Association to express their joint support of the Korean War Memorial project.
Mr. Pak’s Association represents veterans of the 1952 Battle of White Horse Mountain, in which the Republic of Korea’s 9th Infantry Division won a resounding victory in the face of overwhelming odds. Ever since the battle, the 9th has been known as the “White Horse Mountain Division”. He and his veteran colleagues feel a special tie to the Korean War Memorial because one of the three large bronze bas-relief panels to be installed on the site will specifically honor the bravery of the ROK soldiers, including Mr. Pak, who fought in that battle.
