Also, the World War I Armistice Commemoration Committee will hold a special event in conjunction with the Veterans Resource Fair. It is a release of a special Stamp…a Forever Stamp…that you will want to have. Here are the details:

image of new stamp This stamp, along with unique envelopes called cachets, will be offered during a special event for collectors, historians, and supporters of our military. Sale hours are from 9:30 am until 4:00 pm on Tuesday 2 October, in the War Memorial Veterans Building.

There will be a ceremony at 11 am when Veterans will HONOR the U.S. Postal Employees for their years of support to the military services…those years when we didn’t have Email or Skype or Facetime…the days when “mail call” to deployed units was the highlight of the day, and sometimes weeks! Please join us and help us remember and honor them.

Regarding the stamp release and cachets, there are eight different themes about America’s participation in World War One including U.S. Women, African-Americans, the U.S. Army, etc. Each cachet shows a collage of images including period posters and photos of men and women. Each cachet also tells a story about the role they played in helping to win the war.
